Little Hedgehogs Nursery

We hope this is the beginning of a partnership that will continue throughout your child’s primary school journey, right through to Year 6. We are delighted to welcome you to our teacher-led Nursery, which is located within our Nursery and Reception Unit at the heart of the school.
Our aim is to provide every child with a rich and engaging learning experience through high-quality, play-based opportunities, with a strong emphasis on outdoor learning. We are fortunate to have access to a wide range of outdoor spaces, including our Forest School area behind the school, a dedicated EYFS outdoor learning and play area, a large school field, an outdoor classroom, and a woodland area at the front of the school.
These environments form an integral part of daily life in our setting, enabling children to explore, discover, and learn through first-hand experiences while developing confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Operating Hours and Charges
Little Hedgehogs Nursery is open to children from the age of three and operates during school term time only. Please refer to the school calendar for term dates.
Please note that there are occasional INSET days when both the school and nursery are closed. In addition, on the final day of the Christmas, Easter, and Summer terms, the nursery closes early at 2:00pm.

Staffing
We operate a Key Person system to help your child feel secure, valued, and well-supported during their time with us. Each child is assigned a member of staff who will be their main point of contact and who will work closely with you regarding your child's learning, development, and wellbeing.
While your child will have a designated Key Person, they will also learn and interact with all members of our team. We deliberately rotate staff to ensure that all children build positive relationships with each adult and are well known and understood across the setting.
Joining Our Nursery
Places at Little Hedgehogs Nursery are offered through our waiting list, which is updated regularly. Once you have confirmed that you would like your child to join us, submitted your Early Education Funding (EEF) Parent Declaration, and selected your required sessions, you will be asked to sign and return a copy of our Terms of Provision, retaining a second copy for your records.
To help your child settle confidently into nursery life, we will arrange a home visit with Mrs Wallin and Mr Brearey (Executive Headteacher), or another member of our nursery team. This provides an opportunity for us to get to know your child in a familiar environment and begin building positive relationships with your family.
Following the home visit, we will work closely with you to agree a personalised transition plan, helping your child start nursery in the way that best meets their individual needs and ensures a happy, successful introduction to our setting.
